There is only one correct answer to the "Where do you see yourself in five years?"
Here it is:
I know life enough to realise that it will throw something at me that I could have never anticipated in my wildest dream. I also understand that five years from now, I will have a very different look on life which will change my priorities therefore, what I will be doing or wanting to do. I don't know the person five years from now, so I cannot plan for it.
I plan for a year or two, and while I always know my next goal or step, I keep myself open to opportunities in the long term. Those opportunities helped me where I am today and allowed me to grow into my potential. Whilst I don't know what I am going to be doing in five years, I am sure that I will still be building my career and I would love to do that with you if the company allows me.
It is ok only to know the next best step because nothing I have ever done could have been planned for or anticipated five years prior.
